The most common problems with Full LED headlights in BMW 5 F10 F11 M5

If the following message appears on your display:

• Adaptive Lichtsysteme Defekt (Adaptive lighting system malfunction)
• Ferenlicht rechts defekt (Right high beam defective)
• Abblendlicht rechts defekt (Right low beam defective)
• Lechtweitenregulierung defekt (Headlight range control defective)

This means that one or more modules in your headlight are faulty.
Each headlight (left or right) contains up to four modules.

How to diagnose the fault?

• Option 1: connect the car to a BMW service/diagnostic computer – it will identify which module is defective.
• Option 2 (at home): swap modules between the two headlights one by one. Unfortunately, this requires removing the front bumper to access the headlights and modules.
